Seychelles – Seasons

Tropical trade winds not only define the seasons in Seychelles, but also determine where seaweed shifts. Although naturally harmless and stranded seaweeds can divert coastal scenes that would otherwise be perfect for the image, and make swimming less pleasant. So their seasonal location can affect the area in which they would prefer to stay.

In general, from May to September, the colder, drier trade winds from the southeast bring lively seas to the southwest of Mahé and cause the algae to leave the beaches on the south coast of Praslin.

On the contrary, from October to April, the trade winds of the northwest, calm and warm muddy the beaches of Côte d’Or of Praslin with seaweed, and the waves and the currents are strong in the northwest coast of Mahé, as in Beau Vallon . The presence of seaweed is more likely in the long coastal stretches of Praslin that in the coves of Mahé and La Digue.
